Vision Statement of District 44 DFL:

 

  I.      We believe that although we are all ordinary citizens, we live in an extraordinary democracy.

 

II.      We believe in the preservation, protection, and defense of the Constitutions of the United States of America and the State of Minnesota and of the rights guaranteed by those documents.   We believe that our individual and collective actions are both necessary and proper for such purposes.

 

III.      We believe in the rights and obligations of the individual to act collectively for the common good as well as his or her own self-interests.

 

IV.      We believe in quality education for all, security in our homes and communities, a clean environment, fair taxation and equal access and  opportunity for all

 

V.      We look forward to a world founded on the four essential freedoms set forth by President Franklin Delano Roosevelt. 

 

a.       The first is freedom of speech and expression. 

b.       The second is the freedom of every person to worship, or not worship, in his or her own way. 

c.       The third is freedom from want - our abundance will mean each person will have food, clothing, shelter, healthcare and education.

d.       The fourth is freedom from fear.

 

VI. We believe that engaged and committed citizens are essential to achieve and maintain this Vision.

 

Mission Statement of District 44 DFL:

I.  We believe it is our patriotic obligation to be actively engaged in our democracy.

 

II. We seek to exercise our responsibilities and freedoms through our local political organization to:

a.       Promote the endorsement, election and accountability of Democrats in the Senate District 44 house and senate offices as well as other local, state and national offices.,

b.       Educate ourselves and our community about the issues of the day and the electoral and legislative processes, and

c.       Organize our community to encourage and facilitate direct participation in both elections and government decisions at all levels of government.

   

III. Our District 44 DFL seeks to strengthen the bond between its citizens, their issues and our elected officials to promote progressive solutions to problems we share and to serve the values we hold as a community.
